Chasing the Sun

Recently we drove west from Savannah, GA. and I notice something I hadn't seen in a while. A sunset. The day was sweltering, muggy, and to the point where you could almost chew the air. During the day, the sun was bright, hot, and a little overbearing to be honest. Still enjoying a great day, we chose to leave more towards the evening hour. As we were driving west I noticed the sun was running in the same direction. We gave chase.

I would say that we were attracted to that magical change in color. That bright yellow lemon turned into bright cantaloupe color. The clouds were the fresh ricotta. The sun ran faster. The cantaloupe turned into a peach and the bright forest that lines the highway turned into a deep dark oregano. The sun is outrunning us. There's no way for us to keep up with that power. Now it's morphing into a bright squash. The squash was intense, and topped with a little mascarpone. Now the trees appear to be the char on the edges of fresh grilled branzino. Now the sun is going at ludicrous speed. And as it begins it final descent, it sends an amber amontillado light beam into my face almost saying, You're Welcome.

All I can do is say thank you very much, and think "I'm gonna make some sunny side eggs in the morning"
